Post video in Discussions in D2L Brightspace

Overview

Your instructor may create discussions in your online classes to provide a space for you to contribute to class conversations with your classmates. For instance, you may be asked to provide a video introduction in a discussion post. Contact your instructor for guidance about your class discussion assignments.

Add your MediaSpace media in a discussion post

  1. When logged into D2L Brightspace, navigate to your class.
  2. Navigate to the Discussions tool.
  3. Click on the discussion topic (a blue clickable link) to review it.
    Click on the discussion topic's title.
  4. To create your own post, click Start a New Thread.

  5. In your post, enter your response in the subject line and the body textboxes.
  6. In the toolbar, click the Insert Stuff icon.

  7. Click Kaltura Media.
  8. Click the Add New icon and select Express Capture.

  9. If prompted, click Allow to utilize your microphone and/or webcam in the web browser.
  10. Click the record circle button to start the recording.
  11. Record your video, and then press the stop button to finish recording.
    Note: There is no pause button.
  12. When ready to use your video, click Use This.
    Note: You also have the option to preview your recording, and/or record again.

  13. After the file has uploaded successfully, click Save and Embed.

  14. Click Insert on the next screen.
  15. Back on the discussion post, click Post when finished.
