Import questions in the Question Library in D2L Brightspace

Overview

The Question Library is a good place to store, organize, and easily access all questions from the Quizzes, Surveys, and Self Assessments within your course.

Access the Question Library

1. Within your course, navigate to the Quizzes, Surveys, or Self Assessments tool.
2. From the tool's navigation, click Question Library.

Import questions into the Question Library

Import questions into Question Library to consolidate questions created with the Quizzes, Surveys, and Self Assessments tools. You can also import questions from a CSV file or a zipped publisher package.

Import questions from a CSV or zip file

You can create questions offline using a CSV formatted text file. Follow the steps below to access a template for creating the text file, or upload a question file you have completed.

1. In the Question Library, click Import.
2. From the Import drop-down menu, select Upload a File.
   
3. From the ‘Upload a File’ window, select the CSV or ZIP file where existing questions reside by clicking Browse Files.
   Note: You may download the text file template to create questions offline by clicking the ‘Download template CSV’ and save the file to your computer.
4. Once the file has finished uploading, review the number of found questions and sections.
5. Click Import All to import all questions from the upload.
   

Import questions from existing places within the course

It's best practice to use the Question Library to create questions if those questions will be used for question pools within quizzes. Question Pools can only draw questions that aren't already in question pools, which makes the Question Library an ideal place to create those questions to pull them in.

1. In the Question Library, click Import.
2. From the Import drop-down menu, select Browse Existing Questions.
   
3. In the Source drop-down menu, select the source (quizzes, surveys, self-assessments) where existing questions reside in your course.
4. Select the checkboxes beside the questions and/or sections you want to import.
5. When ready, click Add.
