Overview
As an instructor, you can reset a quiz attempt for student if you are allowing the student to retake their attempt, such as if the attempt is in-progress or if it already has been submitted. You can also restore a deleted quiz attempt from the quiz attempt logs.
Delete (reset) a quiz attempt
- Navigate to the Quizzes tool.
- Click Grade Quiz from the quiz’s menu.
- Select All Users from the Restrict to drop-down menu.
- Click the Search icon.

- Select the checkbox next to the quiz attempt(s) you want to remove (i.e. delete).
- Click the Delete icon.

- Click Yes in the confirmation window.
- The page refreshes automatically with the attempts removed for the student(s) and a ‘Deleted successfully' message displays.
- The student(s) are now able to retake the quiz attempt, as long as the quiz has not closed, or the student has special access to take the quiz.
Restore a deleted quiz attempt from Quizzes
Instructors can restore individual deleted quiz attempts for students from within a quiz using the Quiz Attempt log. The Quiz Attempt log tracks quiz attempt submissions per student, in both an overview and detailed set of logs.
Restore a deleted quiz attempt
The Attempt Logs can be accessed from a quiz’s drop-down menu.
- Navigate to the Quizzes tool.
- From the quiz’s menu, click Attempts Log.

- Click the Restore button to restore the quiz attempt.

- The quiz attempt is now restored.
- You can navigate to the quiz’s Grade Quiz screen by clicking the quiz name in the breadcrumb navigation.
- You can now review and grade the restored quiz attempt.
