Overview
This article describes the available options in quiz views: default and customized. As an instructor, you can set the overall score, the display of questions, responses, and question answers in the view. The view is available to students after submit their quiz attempt.
Setup the default view for a Quiz
- Navigate to the Quizzes tool.
- Select Edit from the quiz’s menu.
- Expand the Evaluation & Feedback section.
- Select Attempt grade and No questions for the default view.
- Click Save to save changes to the quiz.
Default view as a Student
After students submit their quiz attempt, they can receive a message after submitting the attempt. The default view has “Your work has been saved and submitted” as its message. Students can review their attempt grade (overall grade), but no questions (responses nor answers).
Customize a view for a quiz
In a quiz, you can set up additional options to configure for a quiz from the Customize Quiz Results Displays link:
- You can set a start date/time to determine when students will first access the customized view.
- You can restrict the customized view to a specific quiz attempt and a quiz score.
Select the required attempt from the Attempt menu, along with the required Min Score and Max Score. The student must achieve the specific scores in the range on their specific quiz attempt to access the customized view.
- Set a limited duration for how long students can access the customized view immediately after they submit their attempt.

Setup a customized view for a quiz
- Navigate to the Quizzes tool.
- On the Manage Quizzes page, Edit from the quiz’s menu.
- On the Edit Quiz page, expand the Evaluation & Feedback section.
- Click the Customize Quiz Results Displays link.
- Click the Additional View.
- Enter a Custom Message that displays to students when they submit their attempt.
- Select the Display attempt grade for evaluated questions checkbox.
- Determine which Questions option to display to students in this view.
- When you are finished editing the view, remember to click Create. You may need to scroll down the screen to access the Create button.
- Then click OK to return to the edit quiz screen.
- Click Save to save changes to the quiz.

Display of Questions in Views
Under the Questions section, you can specify the options you want to display to students after they submit their quiz attempt.
Don’t show (questions)
If you select Don’t Show for ‘Questions’, students will not have any questions in the submission view after taking the quiz.

Incorrect questions only (with learner’s responses) with correct answers
Questions that are graded with a point value greater than zero (full or partial credit) will be displayed, but questions that are graded with a point value of zero (no credit) will not be displayed. Since Written Response questions are auto-graded with a point value of zero, initially, they will not be displayed. If such a question is later manually graded with a point value greater than zero, then it will be displayed.

Since Written Response questions are auto-graded with a point value of zero, they will be displayed.

All questions will be displayed, without any of the student's responses, after taking the quiz.

All questions (with learner responses) without correct answers
All questions will be displayed, along with the student's responses to those questions, after taking the quiz. Note that question feedback will not display to students if you choose this option.

How do I direct students to the quiz view?
For students who have already submitted a quiz attempt, they can access the view by going to the quiz's Submissions page. Check out student articles related to Review your quiz feedback from the student's perspective.
Why can’t students access the default view?
The default submission view displays when it is the only view, or any customized submission view(s) have a future start date.
There are several common reasons why students will not access the default view for a quiz:
- Submission view is restricted by date or attempt.
- The quiz attempt is unpublished. (Refer to articles related to Publish quiz scores to students.)
- The primary view is set to display “No questions”. (You can determine whether to display questions.)
Why can’t students access the customized view after taking the quiz?
The customize view will display when it has a current or past start date. Otherwise, the default view displays.
