Summary
The instructor profile widget is a school-wide widget that displays instructor information to students on the course homepage. The instructor information is pulled from the Brightspace classlist and the instructor’s user profile. Additional, course-specific information can be added as well.
If you do not see the ‘Instructor Profile’ widget on your course homepage, please contact your campus D2L Brightspace support team.
Appearance
At a minimum, the widget will display the name and email address of the instructor(s). If User Profile data and course data exists, it will display that as well:
Multiple Instructor Sorting
If there are multiple instructors in the course, instructors will be sorted first (ascending) by their first name, then by their last name.
Adding Information
When viewed by the instructor of the course, the widget will prompt for additional data:
Adding Instructor Information
Click Edit My Profile to add instructor information.
Note: This data will then appear in all courses, as it is specific to the instructor.
Adding Course Information
Click Edit course info to add course-specific information, such as office hours or links to an online meeting space.
Note: This information will only be shown in this course.
Limitations
- Email address – The email address must be present in the classlist to be displayed in the widget.
