Overview
SoftChalk Cloud allows for an instructor to add an External Learning Tool (LTI) link to a SoftChalk activity through the SoftChalk Cloud Link Selector. Upon successful completion of a SoftChalk activity, grades will be synced to the D2L Brightspace gradebook.
Instructions for Use
Link Selector Method
- Navigate to the Content tool of your D2L Brightspace course.
- Click Existing Activities > SoftChalk Cloud Link Selector.
Note: This can also be found within the HTML Editor using ‘Insert Stuff’.
- Sign in with your SoftChalk Cloud account (if prompted).
- Click the SoftChalk lesson you want to insert (you may need to expand groupings).
- Click LTI Link.
- Click Select.

Manual Entry Method
- Navigate to the Content tool of your D2L Brightspace course.
- Click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools.
- Click Create New LTI Link.

- Input a Title and the URL of the SoftChalk activity.

- Click Create and Insert.
Grade Synchronization
A new External Learning Tool link must be created for each assignment. Following a student's completion of a SoftChalk activity, the grade will be automatically sent to the D2L Brightspace gradebook.
Note: Grade Sync will create the grade item within the D2L Brightspace gradebook, but it will not create a category. You will need to move the created grade item into a category. If you would like to create the grade item manually, review the Assessing LTI & SCORM article.
