Grades

You can exempt a student from one or multiple graded items in your grade book. Learn how the grade exemption displays to students in their view of grades

Set an exemption for a student from the grade book

  1. Navigate to the Grades tool. 
  2. From the Enter Grades page of the grade book, locate the grade item that you want to exempt a student from.
  3. From the menu beside the grade item's name, select Enter Grades.
  4. Search for and select the check box beside the student's name.
  5. Above or below the list of students, click Exempt to set an exemption for that student.

  6. Click Save and Close.

Removing an exemption for a student

  1. Navigate to the Grades tool. 
  2. From the Enter Grades page of the grade book, locate the grade item that you want to remove an exemption for a student.
  3. From the menu beside the grade item's name, select Enter Grades.
  4. Search for and select the check box beside the student's name.
  5. Above or below the list of students, click Unexempt to unexempt that student.

Setting multiple grade item exemptions for a student

To set multiple exemptions for a student

  1. Navigate to the Grades tool. 
  2. From the Enter Grades page of the grade book, locate the student you want to set multiple exceptions for. 
  3. From the menu of the student's name, select Bulk edit exemptions.

  4. Select the check boxes of the grade items that you want to exempt the student from.

  5. Click Save and Close.

To remove multiple exemptions for a student

  1. Navigate to the Grades tool. 
  2. From the Enter Grades page of the grade book, locate the student you want to remove multiple exceptions for. 
  3. From the menu of the student's name, select Bulk edit exemptions.

  4. Unselect (clear) the check boxes of the grade items that you want to unexempt the student from.
