Overview

The Microsoft Education LTI integration allows for an instructor to connect a D2L Brightspace course to a variety of Microsoft tools, such as OneDrive files, OneNote, and Teams.  Previously, many of these tools were stand-alone integrations, but they are now bundled together into a single 'Microsoft Education' integration.  Below you will find basic instructions for getting started with each enabled feature:

Note: Some features in Microsoft Education platform are not yet enabled for use due to concerns or pending further review.  These include:

  • Creation of Microsoft Teams
  • Teams Assignments
  • Reflect
  • Reading Coach

Instructions for Use

Create the Connection to Microsoft Education

  1. Navigate to the Brightspace Content tool.
  2. Click Existing Activities External Learning Tools > Microsoft Education.
  3. Click Microsoft Education.
  4. Click Continue Setup
  5. Complete any prompts from Microsoft to complete the connection.
  6. After connection, the available tools will be displayed:

Create a OneNote Class Notebook

  1. After the connection has been established above, click on the Microsoft Education link.
  2. Choose Class Notebook from the displayed tools.
  3. Click on Set up a OneNote Class Notebook
  4. Follow the prompts.

 

Schedule a Teams Meeting 

  1. After the connection has been established above, click on the Microsoft Education link.
  2. Choose Meetings from the displayed tools.
  3. Click New Meeting
  4. Follow the prompts.

 

Create a collaborative document

  1. After the connection has been established above, navigate to the Content tool.
  2. Click Existing Activities > M365 Document Collaboration
  3. Use an existing file or create a new document.
    Note: If you choose an existing file, a copy of the original file will be made, specific to this course.  The original document will not be shared or changed.
  4. If you are creating a new document, enter a File Name.
  5. Click Create

 

Link to document

  1. After the connection has been established above, navigate to the Content tool.
  2. Click Existing Activities > M365 Document
  3. Choose the file.
  4. Click Link
    Note: A copy of the original file will be made, into a SharePoint site for this course.  The original document will not be shared or changed.
