Quizzes

You can create an exam that contains the questions with a key.  Students take the quiz, which is automatically scored against the key you provide. 

Create a new quiz

  1. From your course navigation bar, click Assessments, and then select Quizzes.
  2. the New Quiz button.
  3. Enter a Name for the quiz.
  4. Set the quiz due date. Under Availability Dates & Conditions, set the quiz start date and/or end date.
  5. To associate the quiz with the gradebook, click add to grade book to create a new one (or select a Edit or Link to Existing to select an existing one).
  6. Then, do any of the following:
    • To create a new quiz question, click Create New and select the question type.
    • To create a new section (or folder) to organize questions, click Create New > Section.
    • To create a question pool, click Create New > Question Pool.
    • To import questions from a zip or csv formatted file, click Add Existing > Upload a File. Click Browse Files, upload the zip or csv file, and then click Import All.
  7. Under Attempts & Completion, do any of the following:
    • Keep the Auto-publish checkbox selected to allow students to see their scores and feedback immediately after they submit the quiz.
    • Unselect (clear) the Auto-publish checkbox to first adjust scores or grade written response questions, and then later release scores and feedback to students with a manual process.
    • Select the Synchronize to grade book on publish to automatically push the quiz scores to the gradebook.
  8. Under Timing & Display > Manage Timing, set the time limit and select what should happen if the time limit is exceeded using Timer Settings.
  9. When ready to show the quiz in the list, select the Hidden button to make it visible to students.
  10. Click Save and Close.
