What an RSA SecurID Token Is
An RSA SecurID Token is a security device or mobile app used for two‑factor authentication (2FA). It generates a unique, time‑based code every 60 seconds. When logging into secured systems, you enter:
- Your personal PIN
- The current code displayed on your token
Together, these two factors verify your identity and help protect access to sensitive systems.
Who Needs a Token
RSA SecurID Tokens are required for staff who need to access secured spaces or services that require two‑factor authentication. A supervisor or the system owner will determine whether a token is needed based on job responsibilities.
What Tokens Are Used For
RSA SecurID Tokens are used to authenticate into secured networks, applications, or environments that require stronger protection than a password alone. Common uses include:
- Accessing restricted systems
- Connecting to secured environments
- Verifying identity for sensitive workflows
Token Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Employees can use the RSA Self‑Service Console to perform token maintenance tasks such as testing a token, resynchronizing it, or viewing token details.
