Overview
Many publishers and vendors offer integrations that allow the connection of a Brightspace course to external resources or activities. Often this is through a Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) link that uses Single-Sign On (SSO) to authenticate into the third party application. LTI is a standard for connecting Learning Management Systems (also known as ‘tool consumers’) to external third-party resources (‘tool providers’).
Approval and Review Process
For an integration to be used within D2L Brightspace, it undergoes a thorough review to ensure it meets Minnesota State standards. The system office Learning Technologies team performs functional testing of the integration and a security review of the vendor’s practices. Additionally, each school must ensure that any agreements or contracts meet its requirements. Once those reviews are complete, the school’s approver signs off on the integration for use. Upon campus approval, system office staff will configure the integration within D2L Brightspace.
If you are interested in the status of an integration, please see the D2L Brightspace Integrations site.
