Discussions
Your instructor may create discussions in your online classes to provide a space for you to contribute to class conversations with your classmates. For instance, you may be asked to respond to course content and assignments, work with classmates in assigned groups, and ask your instructor questions about course material. Contact your instructor for guidance.
Find unread discussion posts

- Navigate to the Discussions tool.
- Select the topic's title to navigate to it.
- Select unread from the "Filter by: "All Threads" menu.
- Select a thread to read the thread and any replies.
- Remember to select Clear filters to reset the page to review all posts and replies again.
Post a thread in a Discussion topic

- When logged into D2L Brightspace, navigate to your class.
- Navigate to the Discussions tool.
- Select the discussion topic (a blue link) to review it.
- To create your own post, select Start a New Thread.
- To reply to someone else’s post, select its title to view it. Then select Reply to Thread.
- In your post or reply, enter your response.
Note: The Insert Image icon is for image files only. To add an attachment to a post, scroll down to the Hide attachments section, select Upload, and then select the file you want to attach.
- Select Post when finished.
