Discussions
Your instructor may create discussions in your online classes to provide a space for you to contribute to class conversations with your classmates. For instance, you may be asked to respond to course content and assignments, work with classmates in assigned groups, and ask your instructor questions about course material. Contact your instructor for guidance.

What does ‘access restricted’ or ‘submission restricted’ mean when I’m posting?
When posting a discussion topic, students may see ‘access restricted’ or ‘submission restricted’ with dates. These terms are intended to make it easier to understand when you can access or submit to a discussion topic. Check out this 2 minute video available at MediaSpace.
Mark threads and replies as read in Discussions
Once a discussion gets going, new posts can come in very quickly. Learn more about discussions in this MediaSpace video playlist.
When using the Reading View, discussion posts are marked as read after a few seconds on the page. It does take 2-3 seconds to mark them as read. We recommend viewing the 4 minute video on how to auto mark messages as read in Discussions.
