March 2026 D2L Brightspace Release

Effective March 19, 2026, new and updated features within D2L Brightspace are available to Instructors as part of the monthly update. 

Release highlights include updates to Awards, Classlist and D2L Brightspace (overall). Review the additional resources to learn more. 

 

 

Awards

Increased character limits for Badges and Certificates text fields

With the March 2026 release, instructors can now enter more detailed information in text fields when creating or editing an award. This update increases character limits and preserves line breaks, allowing the name, criteria, descriptions, and evidence to display consistently across Award views.​

The following fields now support increased character limits:​

  • Name (256 characters)​
  • Description (1000 characters)​
  • Criteria (1000 characters)​
  • Evidence (on issued award) (1000 characters)​

 

 

Classlist

Export Classlist details to CSV using Export button

With the March 2026 release, the Classlist tool now includes a new option that allows instructors to export Classlist details to a CSV file. The new Export button offers a quick way to download details that are available in the Classlist. 

This update makes it easier for instructors to use Classlist information for offline processes. ​

Note: This update was original intended for the January 2026 release but was delayed by D2L until this March release. 

 

Export the Classlist to a CSV file using ​the new Export button, then select Download to download the CSV file. ​

To export a partial Classlist (such as students only) to a CSV file, select the tab, select the individuals, use the Export button above the list, and then select Download to download the file. ​

D2L Brightspace (overall)

Supported browser list is updated

With the March 2026 release, D2L Brightspace's supported browser versions has been updated. The minimum supported browser versions are: Chrome 140, Edge 140, Safari 26, and Firefox 143. It's recommended to use the latest browser version in D2L Brightspace.
