Convert an exam from Word and import into Quizzes in D2L Brightspace

Overview

If you have an exam in Word that you print and distribute to students in a face-to-face course, you can convert that file to a CSV (comma separated value) file type that can be quickly imported into your D2L Brightspace course. Convert the Word file to a CSV file

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to Quiz Converter.
  2. Open the Word file, drag across the questions and responses, and press CTRL + X to cut.
  3. Then from the Home tab, click the drop-down button in the upper left for Paste.
  4. Click on the “Keep Text Only” option.
  5. Put an asterisk symbol directly to the left of the correct response letter or number for every question.
  6. Add a blank link between questions.
  7. Drag across all the questions and answers and press CTRL + C to copy.
  8. Navigate to the browser where you have opened the converter page.
  9. Click in the box and press CTRL + V to paste.
  10. Then click the green “Convert” button.
  11. A Success! Message should display at the bottom of the screen, and a CSV file will be downloaded to your computer.

Upload the Excel CSV file to your D2L Brightspace course

  1. Navigate to your course in your D2L Brightspace site.
  2. Navigate to the Quizzes tool from the course navigation bar.
