June 2025 D2L Brightspace Release
Effective June 19, 2025, new and updated features are available within D2L Brightspace as part of the monthly update.
Release highlights include updates to Awards and Content.
Awards
In Awards: The issuer’s first and last name (as replace strings) can now be added to certificate templates for awards. Note: Award replace strings are added to PDF certificate templates, such as in Adobe Acrobat. The issuer's name appears on manually issued awards after June 19, 2025.
- Notes:
- Within the certificate template, the {IssuerFirstName} and {IssuerLastName} strings insert the first and last name of the user who manually issues a certificate to a student.
- These replacement strings only apply to certificates that are manually issued. In cases where a certificate using these replacement strings is conditionally released, the issuer name areas of the certificate appear blank.
- If the issuer updates their name, the name that displays on the certificate reflects the current name setting at the time of issuance. Previously issued certificates do not update.
- Depending on the certificate template, the inserted text may extend beyond the text box borders. You may need to adjust existing template layout in Adobe Acrobat to ensure issuer names appear correctly.
Content
In Content: When creating a new HTML file as an instructor, 11 new templates are available in the ‘Select a Document Template’ menu. These include new accordions and tabs templates.
- Notes:
- This change replaces any previously listed templates in the 'Select a Document Template' menu.
- This change does not alter your existing content files.
