Alternate Formats in Accessibility+
Accessibility+, a tool within D2L Brightspace, supports inclusive and accessible course design. The Accessibility+ tool is available to all Minnesota State D2L Brightspace users at no extra cost to you.
In Accessibility+, the Alternate Formats tab enable the streamlined conversion of D2L course resources into accessible/inclusive formats that meet diverse student needs. This document outlines the types of content supported, the types of alternate formats Accessibility+ provides, and how to access them.
Who Is This Guide For?
This guide is intended for students using D2L. It provides instructions on how to access and download alternate formats within courses.
How to Access the Alternate Formats
- Once you locate the course document, an Accessibility+ icon will appear above the asset window.
- Click the Accessibility+ icon to open the Alternate Formats module on the right side of the screen. A list of available alternate formats for the selected resource will be displayed.

- Hover over the Download icon next to your preferred alternate format, and then click it to begin the download.

- A toast message will appear confirming that your request was successful.

Below is a list of the available Alternate Formats (targets) in Accessibility+ for each corresponding original (source) resource:
