Accessibility+ Dashboard – Institution Overview
Accessibility+, a tool within D2L Brightspace, supports inclusive and accessible course design. The Accessibility+ tool is available to all Minnesota State D2L Brightspace users at no extra cost to you.
The Accessibility+ Dashboard provides LMS administrators, instructional design/technologists, and deans with a centralized view of digital course content accessibility. The Courses and Asset tab displays key performance metrics, visual summaries, and detailed data to support effective tracking and continuous improvement of accessibility compliance.
The Intended Audience for This Document
This document is intended for LMS administrators, instructional design/technologists, and deans.
It helps these users understand how to interpret the data presented in the Courses and Assets tab of the Accessibility+ Dashboard. The information reflects the summary of all courses synced in D2L Brightspace and supports analysis of accessibility performance and remediation progress.
How to Access the Dashboard
By default, the Courses tab is selected, with an option to switch to the Assets tab.
The dashboard provides:
- Key metrics summarizing accessibility performance
- Visual charts illustrating remediation progress and accessibility trends
- A Course Overview section listing all courses synced to Accessibility+
This initial view provides users with a high-level summary of accessibility status across their institution’s digital learning content.

Understanding Key Metrics
- Overall Accessibility Score: The Accessibility Score reflects how well the digital content aligns with established accessibility standards at the institutional level. It serves as a high-level indicator of accessibility compliance, helping administrators, instructional design/technologists, and deans identify content gaps and prioritize remediation efforts. The score is based on recognized industry standards such as WCAG compliance levels (A, AA, and AAA) and considers both the number and frequency of accessibility test failures within each asset. By providing actionable insights, this metric supports continuous improvement and serves as a benchmark for evaluating and enhancing the accessibility of learning content across the organization.
- Assets Audited: The Assets Audited metric indicates the total number of course assets that have been scanned for accessibility compliance. It reflects a subset of all assets within the course, specifically those that have undergone an accessibility audit. This number updates dynamically as assets are added or removed and as issues are resolved and approved. This metric helps teams monitor the overall scope of accessibility evaluation and track the volume of content that has been reviewed for compliance.
- Assets Fixed: The Assets Fixed metric indicates the number of course assets for which all accessibility issues have been successfully resolved and approved. Assets are included in this count only after all identified issues have been remediated, either manually or automatically, and the final changes have been reviewed and approved by a manager. This metric reflects confirmed progress in improving the accessibility of course content and helps teams measure the effectiveness of their remediation efforts.
- Courses Audited: The Courses Audited metric represents all courses that have been successfully synced with the Accessibility+ system and have completed the accessibility audit process. This audit verifies the accessibility status and content structure of each course. It reflects a subset of the total courses available in the LMS, focusing only on those that have been actively evaluated for accessibility compliance.
- Remediation: The Remediation pie chart provides a visual breakdown of all audited courses based on their remediation status. It categorizes courses into three segments: Remediated, Unremediated, and Yet to Audit. This chart offers a quick, at-a-glance summary of the progress made toward resolving accessibility issues across all evaluated courses.

- Accessibility Status: The Accessibility Status stacked column chart offers a visual representation of accessibility issues over time, categorized by WCAG compliance levels (A, AA, and AAA). Displayed across a timeline segmented by months, this chart helps users monitor how accessibility issues are distributed and how they trend over time. It supports the analysis of compliance progress and helps prioritize efforts based on issue severity and frequency at each standard level.

Note: Both the Remediation pie chart and the Accessibility Status stacked column chart are interactive. Users can click on the legend items below each chart to filter specific data points — such as compliance levels or remediation categories. This dynamic functionality allows users to isolate and analyze specific segments, making it easier to interpret trends, compare categories, and gain targeted insights from the visual data.
- Assets Pending Review: The Assets Pending Review metric refers to assets for which all identified accessibility issues have been resolved but are still awaiting final review and approval by a manager. These assets are in a transitional state between remediation and approval and are not yet counted under the “Assets Fixed” metric. This helps teams track work that is complete from a remediation standpoint but still requires validation before being marked as fully compliant.
- Courses Overview: The Courses Overview section displays a detailed list of all courses that have been audited for accessibility. For each course, the table includes key information such as Serial Number (S. No.), Course Name, Identifier, Course Code, Department Name, Semester, Compliance Status, and the Last Synced date from the D2L LMS. This list provides users with a centralized view to monitor accessibility status and audit history at the course level, enabling informed decision-making and targeted remediation planning. Additionally, by clicking on a Course Name, users can access the course-level dashboard and reports for more detailed insights.
Asset Tab: By toggling to the Assets view, users can access asset-specific accessibility statistics. This view provides insights into the number of courses processed, assets remediated, and the distribution of asset types across the audited content. It enables a more granular analysis of accessibility performance at the asset level, supporting efficient monitoring and remediation planning.
- Remediation: The Remediation pie chart provides a visual breakdown of all audited assets based on their remediation status. It categorizes the asset status into three: Remediated, Unremediated, and Remediated out of all assets audited. This chart offers a quick, at-a-glance summary of the progress made toward resolving accessibility issues across all evaluated assets.

Note: Using the Asset List filter located at the top right of the Remediation chart, users can further filter the data based on specific asset types such as images, PDFs, videos, and more.
- Assets Type: The Assets Type pie chart breaks down the Assets Audited metric by asset category, providing a visual summary of accessibility issue counts across different asset types. These categories include Images, Audio, Video, PDF, PowerPoint, and others. This breakdown helps users understand which types of assets are most commonly associated with accessibility issues, allowing for more targeted remediation strategies.

Note: Both the Remediation pie chart and the Asset Type Doughnut (Donut) chart are interactive. Users can click on the legend items below each chart to filter specific data points — such as Asset Type or remediation categories. This dynamic functionality allows users to isolate and analyze specific segments, making it easier to interpret trends, compare categories, and gain targeted insights from the visual data.
