Create Announcements

Share important information with your students with an announcement.  You can create announcements to communicate course updates, changes, and new information to students quickly and effectively.  Since the course home page is the first page students often see when they access the online course, announcements are helpful area to provide instructor-to-student communication.

Create a new announcement

  1. From your course homepage, click on the Announcements drop-down menu, and then select New Announcement.
  2. Give your announcement a Headline.
  3. Then enter a message in the Content field.
  4. Click Publish to make the announcement available to your students.

What order do my announcements display to students

You can pin announcements to display first (at the top) of the Announcements to students. Then other announcements display by the release start date (if applicable) or when they were created with the most recent at the top. However, if you manually reorder announcements (using More Actions > Reorder option), then they appear in that sort order.

Pin an announcement to the top of the list

  • From the announcement's menu, select Pin to top.

Copy an announcement to other courses

  1. From the announcement's menu, select Copy to Other Courses

  2. Select the destination course(s), decide whether to "Publish announcement on copy" using the checkbox, and then click Next

  3. Click Copy to confirm. 
  4. Click Done.
