To successfully reset your StarID password, follow these steps using your state-issued device:
Step 1: Connect to the System Office Network
Before initiating a password reset, ensure your laptop is connected to the system office network. You can do this in one of two ways:
- Remotely via SOVPN, or
- Physically at a system office work site (Wells Fargo Place, SCTCC,, Granite Falls, or MSU-Moorhead) using a docking station.
⚠️ StarID passwords must be reset while connected to the system office network. Non-compliance will result in login issues that will require an on-site fix at the system office.
Step 2: Visit the StarID Self Service Site
Go to starid.minnstate.edu and follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password. Be sure to follow all password requirements listed on the site.
