Connection Instructions
Connecting to eduroam
Who it’s for: Minnesota State students, employees, affiliates, and visiting eduroam users.
Access: Internet-only (personal devices).
Steps
- Navigate your device to view available wireless networks – this will vary depending on your device.
- Select eduroam.
(*Note: If you previously connected to eduroam somewhere else in the past, or you recently changed your password, you may need to “forget” the network and then reconnect.)
- Use the following information to setup the connection on your device, as applicable:
Androids
Use the following selections to setup the connection properly:
- EAP method = TTLS
- Identity:
- Minnesota State Employees, Students, Affiliates = yourstarid@minnstate.edu
- Visiting eduroam users = your eduroam username
- Password:
- Minnesota State Employees, Students, Affiliates = your StarID password
- Visiting eduroam users = your eduroam password
- CA Certificate = Don’t Validate
- Auto reconnect = turn this on if you wish to have it connect automatically in the future
- Click “Connect”
- Your device should connect to the eduroam network and have internet access
iPhones (iOS)
Use the following selections to setup the connection properly:
- Username:
- Minnesota State Employees, Students, Affiliates = yourstarid@minnstate.edu
- Visiting eduroam users = your eduroam username
- Password:
- Minnesota State Employees, Students, Affiliates = your StarID password
- Visiting eduroam users = your eduroam password
- Trust the certificate when it prompts (upper right-hand corner)
- Your device should connect to the eduroam network with internet access
Connecting to MinnState-Board
Who it’s for: Guests attending a Board of Trustees meeting (Wells Fargo Place).
Access: Internet-only (personal devices).
Steps
- Navigate your device to view available wireless networks – this will vary depending on your device.
- Look for and select “MinnState-Board”
- Your device should connect to the “MinnState-Board” network and have internet access automatically without need for authentication
Connecting to MinnState-Guest
Who it’s for: Guests at the Wells Fargo Place System Office location.
Access: Internet-only (personal devices).
Steps
- Navigate your device to view available wireless networks – this will vary depending on your device.
- Look for and select “MinnState-Guest”.
- You will receive notification that you need to “Sign in” to the network – select to Sign In
- You will be prompted with an “Acceptable Use Policy” – read the policy the click “Accept”
- Your device should connect to the “MinnState-Guest” network and have internet access
Connecting to SO-Staff Wireless
Who it’s for: System Office employees and contractors using System Office–managed computers.
Access: Internet + internal network resources (mapped drives and administrative applications).
*Important: The first-time setup requires a wired connection (dock or ethernet cable).*
Steps
- Ensure device is connected to the system office ethernet network. This may be achieved either by docking the laptop or connecting the network ethernet cable directly into the device.
- Click on the networking icon located in the right corner of the Taskbar, then select “SO-Staff”.
- Click the Connect button. At the prompt, it is recommended to also select “Connect Automatically”.
- The following “Sign In” prompt should appear. If not, restart the device – this is an important step.
- Sign in using “oocad\yourStarID” and your StarID password for the credentials.
- The device should now be connected to SO-Staff for internet and internal resource access. The device should automatically connect in the future.
