Elsevier Evolve Link

Overview

Elsevier Evolve Link allows for an instructor to share the Elsevier Evolve Link to launch the Elsevier Link platform within their D2L Brightspace course Content. The instructor then selects the available course, copies the link, and inserts that link back in D2L Brightspace, providing a direct link to the Evolve Link course materials. Students will then be able to use the newly created External Learning Tool link to directly access Elsevier resources.

During spring 2024, a new version of the integration was implemented using LTI 1.3.  The steps below reflect the latest integration version.

Instructions for Use

Retrieve Evolve link

Follow the instructions below to create a link between your D2L Brightspace course and the Elsevier Evolve Link platform.

  1. Within the content tool of the D2L Brightspace course, click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools.
  2. Click Elsevier Evolve Link.
  3. Click on the newly created content topic. This will sign you in to Evolve Link.
  4. Within Evolve Link, locate the course you’d like to use.  Click Create Link.
    Note: You can also click on the title of the course to retrieve links directly to specific content.

  5. Click Copy Link to copy the link to the selected course.

  6. Navigate back to your D2L Brightspace course.
  7. Within the content tool, click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools.
  8. Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up. Click on Create New LTI Link.
  9. Enter a Title and paste the copied link.

  10. Click Create and Insert.
  11. Click on the drop-down menu of the newly-created content topic.  Click Edit Properties In-place.

  12. Select the checkbox for Open as External Resource.
  13. Refresh the page, or click on the content module title to see the changes.

Grade Synchronization

Grade sync is handled automatically using the LTI 1.3 integration.  An Evolve graded assignment will create a grade book item in D2L Brightspace, and populate the scores of any student attempts.
