Hawkes Learning

Overview

Hawkes Learning allows for an instructor to create a link to a specific Hawkes Learning activity from the D2L Brightspace Content tool, as well as synchronize your classlist and grade book between D2L Brightspace and Hawkes Learning. 

The Hawkes Learning integration was updated in November 2024 to a new version (LTI Advantage).  This article reflects the latest version.

The integration relies on two External Learning Tool links:

  • The first link provides access to the Hawkes Synchronization tool, used to synchronize your classlist and grade book between D2L Brightspace and Hawkes Learning.
  • The second link allows for the creation of deep links pointing to a specific Hawkes Learning activity.

Instructions for Use

Getting Started

Within your D2L Brightspace course, complete the following steps to start using the integration:

  1. Navigate to the Content tool.
  2. Click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools.
    Note: Do not choose the ‘Hawkes Learning’ link in the ‘Existing Activities’ menu.
  3. Click Hawkes Learning Sync Tool.
  4. Click the menu of the newly-created content topic.
  5. Click Hide from Users to hide this link from students.

Insert a Link

  1. Navigate to the Content tool of your Brightspace course.
  2. Click Existing Activities > Hawkes Learning.
  3. Select the Hawkes content, and click Create Links.

Grade Synchronization

The Hawkes Sync Tool is used to configure the connection between your D2L Brightspace grade book and the Hawkes Learning grade book.

  1. Within the Content tool, click the Hawkes Learning Sync Tool link created above.
  2. Within the Hawkes Sync Tool, click Assignments.
  3. Using the dropdown menus, select the Action to Perform for each grade item.
    Using the dropdown menus, select the appropriate action for each Hawkes Learning grade item.
  4. Click Sync.  Confirm your selections.
  5. After the grade items have been synchronized, click Assignment Grades or Final Grades.
  6. Select the student grades to sync, click Sync, and confirm your selections.
