Turnitin PeerMark

Overview

TurnItIn PeerMark allows for an instructor to embed a PeerMark link or create a PeerMark topic within their D2L Brightspace course. Students complete the peer review from the PeerMark link or topic within D2L Brightspace. 

Instructions for Use

Embed a Link with other Content

Do you want to embed the TurnItIn folder as a quicklink with additional instructions and content around it?  You can use the quicklink option within the rich-text editor (HTML Editor).  

1. Navigate to the Content tool in your D2L Brightspace course.
2. Click Upload/Create > Create a File.
   Note: You can perform the following steps within any HTML Editor if you’d prefer to link to PeerMark within a different Brightspace tool.
3. Within the HTML Editor, click the Insert Quicklink button.
   
4. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click TurnItIn PeerMark.
   
5. Enter a Title.
   Note: This becomes the Turnitin Assignment name.
6. Select “Enable Peermark”.
7. Enter other assignment settings (as needed) and click Submit.
   
8. Click Save and Close to finish editing within the HTML Editor.
9. When viewing the newly-created content topic, click the quicklink to open it.
   
10. After opening the quicklink, you will now see the TurnItIn assignment.
11. From the Peermark menu, you’ll see options for PeerMark Setup and PeerMark Reviews. 
    
12. Click PeerMark Setup to start configuring the peer review assignment.

Add as a separate Content topic

1. Navigate to the Content tool in your D2L Brightspace course.
2. Within a module, click Existing Activities > TurnItIn PeerMark.
3. Enter a Title.
   Note: This becomes the Turnitin Assignment name.
4. Select “Enable Peermark”.
5. Enter other assignment settings (as needed) and click Submit.
   
6. Click on the created content topic to view it.
7. After opening the content topic, you will now see the TurnItIn assignment.
8. From the Peermark menu, you’ll see options for PeerMark Setup and PeerMark Reviews. 
   
9. Click PeerMark Setup to start configuring the peer review assignment.

Student View

A student, who needs to complete a peer review, will need to perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to the Content tool in your D2L Brightspace course.
2. Click on the Turnitin PeerMark link on the content page or the content topic. 
3. Click PeerMark Reviews > Write Reviews > Start a Review.
   

Grade Synchronization

Using the Direct Integration still allows you to grade students’ submissions and have those grades sent to your Brightspace course.  Upon entering a score, the score value is automatically sent to D2L Brightspace.  For more information about configuring a grade item when using an LTI integration, please review Assessing LTI & SCORM in Content.
