Top Hat

Overview

The Top Hat integration allows for an instructor to use an External Learning Tool (LTI) to link to their Top Hat course.  This LTI link provides students one-click access to the Top Hat platform for polling, readings, and other activities.

Instructions for Use

Insert a Course Link

  1. Navigate to the Brightspace Content tool.
  2. Click Add Existing > External Tool Activity.
  3. Click Top Hat.
  4. Launch the newly created Content topic.  Follow any prompts to pair your account and your course.

Insert a Deep Link

  1. Navigate to the Brightspace Content tool.
  2. Click Add Existing > More > Top Hat
  3. Choose Continue.
  4. Click Confirm.

Grade Synchronization

To send grade scores back to the D2L Brightspace grade book, navigate to the Top Hat grade book.

  1. In the Top Hat grade book, click the Sync with LMS icon.
  2. Select items to sync, and click Sync with LMS.
