Accessibility+ Course Dashboard – Overview
Accessibility+, a tool within D2L Brightspace, supports inclusive and accessible course design. The Accessibility+ tool is available to all Minnesota State D2L Brightspace users at no extra cost to you.
Important: Expected during spring semester 2026, the Accessibility+ course dashboard will be available within D2L Brightspace in your courses.
The Accessibility+ course dashboard provides instructors with a centralized view of digital course content accessibility.
Who Is This Guide For?
This document is intended for Instructors. This article explains how instructors can access the Accessibility+ Course Dashboard, understand it's findings, and use available information to ensure your course materials are accessible to every student.
Access the Accessibility+ Course Dashboard
After navigating to your course in D2L Brightspace, select the Accessibility+ (or similarly named link) from a course navigation menu.
Understand the Course Dashboard View
From the Accessibility+ course dashboard, the Overall Course Score displays the average of all the content that can be scanned.
At the top of the dashboard, the course name, audit status, and overall course accessibility score display, followed by a list of course content items. Instructors can initiate a bulk scan of all applicable content in the course by selecting Run Audit.

Tour of Course Dashboard
- Audit Status: Indicates the status of the bulk content scanning request. Note: A 'Not Audited' status means that a Bulk Audit has not been completed. Individual content items may still have an accessibility score if they were scanned directly from the Content tool.
- Run Audit: Starts the bulk scanning of all applicable content in the course. This action will run in the background as, depending on the size and complexity of the content, may take some time.
- Overall Course Score: The overall score is calculated as an average of all scored content items in the course, excluding content with No Score. Note: If the score does not update in the dashboard, simply refresh the page.
- Title: The title of the content item. Clicking on the title will open the course content in a new window.
- Score: The current accessibility score of the asset. If an item shows No Score, the instructor can click the item title to open it and initiate a scan by selecting the Accessibility+ icon. Once scanned, the instructor can navigate back to the dashboard to view the updated asset and overall course score. Optionally, the instructor can click Run Audit from the dashboard to initiate a bulk scan of all content. Note: The Overall Course Score will only update if an Audit has been run.
- Course Material: Describes the type of asset. At present we can only scan Content, but as additional activities are added to Accessibility+, they will be listed here.
- Last Audited: Provides the date and time of the last accessibility scan for each asset.
- Filter and Search: Instructors are able to filter the content overview by Course Material or by Last Audited Date and can use the search bar to find a specific asset.

Tip:
- In the event that a content item has not yet be scanned (no score listed), click on the item's title to open the item in a new browser window. As soon as it opens in the content, the content will be scanned automatically by Accessibility+. Once it has been scanned, navigate back into the course dashboard and refresh the dashboard. At that point, the content item is listed as scanned with a date and time for the last scan.
