Overview
As the number of grade items and/or the number of student enrollments in a course increases, the maximum number of students that can be displayed per page on the Enter Grades screen decreases. As such, D2L Brightspace may reduce the maximum number for the Per Page menu to 10 or 20 on the Enter Grades screen to maintain a high level of performance.
To maximize the Per Page menu number, instructors may do any of the following:
- Collapse one or more of the grade category headings on the Enter Grades screen
- Hide (from your view) the graded items or categories on the Enter Grades screen
Note: These options do not affect the students' view of their grades. They only affect your view (as an instructor) of the Enter Grades screen of the grade book.
Collapse grade category headings on Enter Grades
The Enter Grades screen will display all grade items and grade categories by default. As an instructor, you can collapse and expand a grade category to save time scrolling across the grade book on the Enter Grades screen.
To collapse a grade category on the Enter Grades screen:
- From the Enter Grades page, switch to the Standard View (if you are currently viewing with the spreadsheet view).
- Select the collapse (minus sign) icon for a grade category.

- After the page refreshes automatically, the grade category is collapsed.

- As needed, repeat the above steps to collapse additional grade categories.
Hide grade items or categories on Enter Grades
The Enter Grades screen will display all grade items and grade categories in your grade book by default. You can hide individual grade items and grade categories to save time scrolling across the grade book on the Enter Grades screen.
To hide already graded items and/or categories on the Enter Grades screen:
- From the Enter Grades page, select the More Actions button.
- Select Hide/Show Columns.

- To hide items, clear the check box next to the grade items and categories.
- When the item is not selected, it is hidden on the Enter Grades page.
- When the item is selected, it is shown on the Enter Grades page.
- Select Save.

- After the page refreshes automatically, the grade items and/or categories are hidden from your view on the Enter Grades screen. A note states: “Some grade items/categories are not displayed."
