Effective May 21, 2026, new and updated features within D2L Brightspace are available to Students as part of the monthly update.
Release highlights include updates to Content and Grades.
Content
New Content Experience is the default experience for Content
On May 14, 2026, the New Content Experience is the new experience of Content starting in your summer 2026 classes and forward. Spring 2026 and prior semester courses still use the Classic Content experience.
With the New Content Experience in the Content tool, students can expect new features and some changes to their experience with navigation and interacting with Content.
Grades
"This activity is past due" displays for past due activities
With the May 2026 release, when an instructor has due dates on activities and you have missed the activity's due date, your view of grades may now display "This activity is past due" text in the Comments & Assessments column. Learn more in this article about how a student can review their class grades in D2L Brightspace.
This change provides a student a way to identify overdue work from their grades. Reach out to your instructor for questions about the activity's due date and any late submitted work.
