Take a Survey

You can take a survey from the Surveys tool.

1. Navigate to the Surveys tool.
2. Click on the survey name to start the attempt.
3. Respond to the questions.
4. At the bottom of the page, click Save Responses to save your responses.
   
5. To submit your attempt, click Submit Survey, then click Yes in the window.
   
6. Click Return to Survey List.
   

How many attempts do I have for a survey?

You can view how many attempts you have for a survey from the Responses column on Survey List page.  There are three attempt types for surveys:

• Unlimited attempts: you can retake the survey as many times as you like before the survey closes.
• Limited attempts: you can take the survey a set number of times before the survey closes.
• Single, editable attempt: you can take the survey once and are able to edit your responses before the survey closes.
  Note: If you return to the attempt, remember to submit it again even if you do not make any changes otherwise it will be set as in-progress.
  

Submit an in-progress survey attempt

You can only submit an in-progress survey attempt if the survey is still open.

You can submit an in-progress survey attempt by returning to the attempt.

1. Navigate to the Surveys tool.
2. Click on the survey name that is in-progress.
   Note: An in-progress survey has an asterisk next to the attempt number.
   
3. To submit your attempt, click Submit Survey, then click Yes in the window.
   
4. Click Return to Survey List.
   
5. The survey attempt is now submitted.

Note: If you click on the survey and "The survey period is over" message displays, please contact instructor. Your instructor may reset (i.e. delete) your survey attempt or reopen the survey so you can submit your in-progress attempt.

Review a submitted survey attempt

Unlike quiz submissions, you cannot review a submitted survey attempt if the survey has Limited or Unlimited attempts.

You can only review a survey attempt if the survey is a single, editable attempt and the survey is still open.  To review your responses, follow the steps below.  After viewing your responses, remember to submit the attempt again, otherwise it will be in-progress.

1. Navigate to the Surveys tool.
2. Click on the survey that is editable (an edit pencil icon appears next to the survey).
   
3. Within the survey attempt, scroll through the page(s) to review your responses.
4. To submit your attempt, click Submit Survey, then click Yes in the window.
   
5. Click Return to Survey List.
