Post video in Discussions in D2L Brightspace

Overview

In your D2L Brightspace class, you may have discussions for class conversations. For instance, you may be asked to provide a video introduction in a discussion. The following instructions provide details about adding a media file in a discussion thread using Kaltura Media's Express Capture. Add your MediaSpace video in a discussion

  1. Navigate to the Discussions tool.
  2. Click on the discussion topic (a blue clickable link) to access it.
    Click on the discussion topic's title.
  3. To create your own thread, click Start a New Thread.

  4. In your thread, enter your response in the subject line and the body textboxes.
  5. In the toolbar, click the Insert Stuff icon.

  6. Click Kaltura Media.
  7. Click the Add New icon and select Express Capture.

  8. If prompted, click Allow to utilize your microphone and/or webcam in the web browser.
  9. Click the record circle button to start the recording.
  10. Record your video, and then press the stop button to finish recording.
    Note: There is no pause button.
  11. When ready to use your video, click Use This.
    Note: You also have the option to preview your recording, and/or record again.

  12. After the file has uploaded successfully, click Save and Embed.

  13. Click Insert on the next screen.
  14. Back on the discussion post, click Post when finished.
