Using private browsing to sign in to multiple accounts

If you're both an employee and a student, you may need to access two separate Microsoft 365 (M365) accounts [Employee Account and Student Account] on the same device. 

Use this method for temporary access to a second account without affecting your main session.

How to Open a Private Window:

Browser Shortcut (Windows) Shortcut (Mac) Menu Option
Chrome Ctrl + Shift + N Cmd + Shift + N ⋮ > New Incognito Window
Firefox Ctrl + Shift + P Cmd + Shift + P ☰ > New Private Window
Edge Ctrl + Shift + N Cmd + Shift + N ⋯ > New InPrivate Window
Safari — Cmd + Shift + N File > New Private Window

Steps:

  1. Open your regular browser and sign in to your primary account

  2. Launch a private window

  3. Navigate to the service (e.g., Outlook, D2L)

  4. Sign in with your secondary account

  5. Use the service as needed—your login will disappear once the window is closed
