Switching Between Your Employee and Student Accounts

For Minnesota State Students Who Are Also Employees

If you're both an employee and a student, you likely have two separate accounts:

  • Student account: StarID@go.minnstate.edu

  • Employee account: StarID@minnstate.edu

To access services like D2L Brightspace, Zoom, and Kaltura Mediaspace, you may need to switch between these accounts or access both simultaneously.

Choosing the Best Method

Scenario Recommended Method
Occasional switching Manual sign-in/out
Frequent dual access Multiple browsers
Temporary access to second account Private browsing
Long-term, organized separation Browser profiles

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

  • Clear cookies if you experience sign in conflicts.
  • Avoid using the same browser session for both accounts.
  • If you’re redirected to the wrong account, try logging out and restarting the browser.
