Minnesota State partners with campuses to support a smooth semester start and ongoing service throughout the year. Use this quick reference to route common questions, reduce duplicate requests, and connect students, faculty, and staff with the right support.

Start Here

  • Current Service Desk hours are located on the Contact Us page on the Minnesota State Service Portal.
*Do not rely on saved or printed copies of this or any other document for current hours.
  • Knowledge Base articles in the Minnesota State Service Portal (https://servicedesk.minnstate.edu/) provide helpful answers and process documentation for many common questions.
  • Student support starts at the campus. Please do not refer students directly to the Enterprise Service Desk. Student issues must first be reviewed and supported by the local campus. If escalation to the System Office is needed, campus employees should submit the service request on the student’s behalf following the steps in the next section. This helps avoid delays and significant frustration for students.

Requesting Assistance and Reporting Issues

  • Submit service requests through the Minnesota State Service Portal (https://servicedesk.minnstate.edu/)
  • Reference the Using the Minnesota State Service Portal knowledge base article for details on how to use the portal.
  • Use the Portal search bar first. Search by keyword, then choose the best matching service or knowledge base articles.
  • Include a person’s full legal name, TechID, StarID, and campus(es), when available.
  • Include helpful verification details when appropriate, such as date of birth, middle initial, phone number, address, or last four digits of SSN.
*Never include full Social Security numbers.*
  • Attach relevant documents, emails, or include screenshots to help clarify the issue.
  • Reply to the ticket notification email to add information or ask questions on existing requests.

StarID

Each person should have one StarID, even if affiliated with multiple colleges or universities. Start with https://starid.minnstate.edu for common StarID questions. If research is needed, submit a ticket through the Service Portal and select the appropriate StarID, Microsoft 365 account, or password service.

TechID / Student ID

Campuses should assist students with TechID questions. Campus staff may submit a ticket if additional assistance is needed.

Duplicate Resolution and Core Merge

Submit requests through the Minnesota State Service Portal for Duplicate Resolution or Core Merge. Timely resolution helps students access eServices, registration, tuition, financial aid, and related services.

Students sign in with "StarID@go.minnstate.edu". Employees sign in with "StarID@minnstate.edu".

Submit batch job requests as early as possible. Requests submitted after 3:00 p.m. may not be processed until the next business day.

Secure File Share / MoveItSecurely

If a recipient cannot access a package sent through Secure File Share (MoveItSecurely), the sender should submit a ticket using the Secure File Sharing (MoveItSecurely) service. The sender remains the recipient’s contact through the process.

Campus Referrals
