Overview
Within Kaltura MediaSpace, you can upload media, share media files, and use/download the Kaltura Capture tool. As an instructor, you may use MediaSpace to store presentations, lectures, and other materials. Check out how to upload your media file to Kaltura MediaSpace to learn more.
As an instructor, you have two options to embed media from MediaSpace in to your D2L Brightspace course:
- Use the Existing Activities menu in Content
- Use the Insert Stuff button within the HTML Editor
After you have embedded the media file within the HTML Editor, students enrolled in your course can view the media file, as long as they have access to the item within D2L Brightspace.
Embed media as a content topic page (Existing Activities > Kaltura Media)
Follow the steps below to add a media file from your Kaltura MediaSpace account as a new Content topic.
- Navigate to the Content tool within your D2L Brightspace course.
- Click on the content module where you want to create the new content topic.
- From the Existing Activities drop-down menu, select Kaltura Media.

- In the Add Activity window, the media files from your MediaSpace account will display.
- Click Embed next to an existing media file from your MediaSpace account.

- A newly created External Learning Tool topic is created at the bottom of the module.
- The content topic’s title by default is the name of the MediaSpace media.
- You may edit the content topic properties and/or restrictions as needed.
Embed media alongside other materials (HTML Editor > Insert Stuff)
You can add a media file from your Kaltura MediaSpace account anywhere you have access to the HTML Editor within D2L Brightspace (e.g. a discussion post, a content HTML topic, an announcement item, assignment feedback, etc.).
- Navigate to your D2L Brightspace course.
- Create or edit the item or file that will contain the media file.
- In the HTML Editor, click the Insert Stuff icon.

- In the Insert Stuff window, click Kaltura Media.

- Your media files from your MediaSpace account will display.
- Click Embed next to an existing media file from your MediaSpace account.

- You may preview the media file. Click Insert when ready.
- The media file is embedded within the HTML Editor.

- Remember to save, update, or post your item, depending on the workflow.
- Students in your course will now have access to the embedded video within the page.
