Kaltura Capture

Kaltura Capture is a desktop application that helps you create a recording (such as your presentation or your lecture) using any combination of audio, webcam video, screen action, and PowerPoint slides. Capture is available in MediaSpace from the Create menu.

Install Kaltura Capture

1. Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace.
2. Select the Create button in the top navigation bar.
3. Select Capture from the drop-down menu.
   
4. Select Download for Windows or Download for Mac, depending on the desktop operating system you are using at the time.
5. If you browser prompts you to approve the download, select the option to allow the download to proceed.
6. When the download is completed:
   • In Windows, select the Kaltura Capture installer, and then follow prompts to complete the installation.
   • In Mac OS, drag the Kaltura Capture icon to the Applications folder, and then follow prompts to complete the installation. 

Record using Kaltura Capture

1. When the installation is complete, do one of the following:
   • Open the installed Kaltura Capture application from your device. 
   • Select the Create button in the top navigation bar, and then select Capture from the drop-down menu. 
2. The Kaltura Capture application will launch on your desktop automatically.
3. In the Kaltura Capture window, select from the source menus, such as cameras, screens, or microphones to choose what you wish to record.
   
   Note that you can turn off a source by clicking on the icon to toggle it off.
   
4. Select the Record button to begin capture the desired sources.
5. When finished recording, select Stop recording.
   
6. Name the recording in the Title field. 
7. Select Save and Upload.
   
8. The recording is uploaded to your MediaSpace account. Note: If you need to manually upload a recording to your MediaSpace account, navigate to the Kaltura Capture folder directory to find the MP4 file and manually upload to your MediaSpace account. 

Sharing the recording with others

When using the Kaltura Capture application, the recording defaults to private sharing after the media is uploaded into your MediaSpace account.

If you intend to share the recording with others, change the media’s setting to unlisted from MediaSpace before sharing with others.
