Kaltura MediaSpace: Why do I get the Access Denied message for a media link?

Why do I get the Access Denied message when selecting a video link?

You may have selected a link to a video lecture, an introduction video, or other academic resources for your school. However, when you attempt to access the link and an "Access Denied" message displays.

When the owner of the media accesses the link, they do not get an "access denied" message because they own the media. The media is hosted on Kaltura MediaSpace.

Access Denied. Sorry, you cannot access this page. If the issue persists, please send the below information to customer care.

How the media owner can resolve the message (set the media as unlisted in MediaSpace)

This message occurs because the owner of the media has set that media as Private in their MediaSpace account. Please contact with the owner of the media, and let them know the "Access Denied" message happens when you select the link.

The owner of the media file can resolve the "Access Denied" message by setting the media as unlisted.

  1. Log in to MediaSpace.
  2. From the user menu, select My Media.
  3. From the media's menu, select Publish status
  4. Select the Unlisted option.
From the media's menu, the publish status options are: private, unlisted, and publish
  5. In the confirmation window, select Save
In the Set media as unlisted confirmation window, you have the option to select Save to confirm, or select Cancel to cancel the process.
