Kaltura Capture

Kaltura Capture is a desktop application that helps you record presentations and screenshots using any combination of voice, webcam video, screen action, and PowerPoint slides.  Kaltura Capture is available in MediaSpace from the Add New menu.

Note: When using the Kaltura Capture tool, the media file's permission defaults to private after the media is uploaded into your MediaSpace account.  If you intend to share the media file with others, change the media’s setting to unlisted.

Install Kaltura Capture

1. Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace using your StarID credentials.
2. Click the Add New button in the navigation bar.
3. Select Kaltura Capture from the drop-down menu.
   
4. Click the Download for Windows link or Download for Mac for link, depending on the desktop operating system you are using at the time.
   
5. If you browser prompts you to approve the download, select whichever options allows the download to proceed.
6. When the download is completed:
   • In Windows, click the Kaltura Capture installer, and then follow prompts to complete the installation.
   • In Mac OS, drag the Kaltura Capture icon to the Applications folder.

Record using Kaltura Capture

1. When the installation is complete, click the Add New button in the navigation bar, and then click select Kaltura Capture from the drop-down menu.
   
2. The Kaltura Capture program will launch on your desktop. Kaltura Capture lets you record video and audio from multiple sources.  In the Kaltura Capture window, click each of the three drop-down menus to select your sources, such as cameras, screens, or microphones you wish to record.
   
   Note that you can turn off a source by clicking on the icon to toggle it off.
   
3. Select the Record button to begin capture the desired sources.
4. When finished recording, select Stop recording.
   
5. Name the recording.
6. Click Save and Upload.
   
7. The media file is uploaded to your MediaSpace account. 

Note: If you need to manually upload a recording from the Kaltura Capture to your MediaSpace account, navigate to the Kaltura Capture folder directory to find the MP4 file.
