Shared Folders and File Access

Service Description

Minnesota State no longer creates new shared folders on shared drive space. Departments now use Microsoft Teams and Teams channels to store and share files.

This service provides assistance to Teams site and Teams channel administrators who are experiencing issues administering their sites or channels. Channel and Teams site owners are responsible for adding or removing members, managing permissions, and determining who should have access.

Users needing access to a site or channel should work directly with the owner. Follow these steps to determine who Teams site owners are:

  1. Open Teams and select Teams from the menu
  2. Select and highlight the Team
  3. Click the ellipse (...) on the right side of the Team name
  4. Select Manage Team
  5. Select Members from the top menu
  6. Refer to the list of Owner(s)

Important Note

This service does not provide help with sharing files through OneDrive or troubleshooting OneDrive sharing issues. System office employees needing assistance with OneDrive file sharing, please refer to the, "Share files and folders in Microsoft OneDrive" support document or submit a request using the Software, Applications and Licensing service.
