StarID Password Reset - System Office Employees

Note

These instructions apply only to System Office employees who need to reset their StarID password. Students and campus employees should use the What is StarID? article for general guidance.

System Office employees: resetting your StarID password requires a connection to the System Office network. This ensures your laptop receives the updated credentials and prevents login issues.

Step 1: Connect to the System Office Network

Before you reset your password, your state‑issued laptop must be connected to the System Office network in one of the following ways:

  • Remote – Connect through SOVPN

  • On‑site  Use a docking station at one of the System Office worksite locations (Wells Fargo Place, SCTCC, Granite Falls, MSU‑Moorhead)

Important: If you reset your password while not connected to the System Office network, your laptop will not receive the update. This will cause login problems that can only be fixed on‑site.

Step 2: Reset Your Password

Go to https://starid.minnstate.edu and follow the instructions to reset your password. Make sure your new password meets all requirements listed on the site.
